Sickle Cell Anemia
School: JACKSON MIDDLE SCHOOL
Area of Science: health
Our group is trying to identify a simple significant way to prevent Sickle Cell Anemia from spreading around different parts of the world. We will attempt to track down the continents where Sickle Cell Anemia is most common to make people aware of this issue.
In a family of four one of the two babies will have the possibility of contracting Sickle Cell Anemia.
Using Starlogo we will show how the spread of Sickle Cell Anemia is possible and the randomness of the disease.
Progress to Date:
Presently, using Starlogo, we will see how tracking a person with sickle cell anemia through a 20 year period generates the number of babies with the disease. Using Starlogo we will be investigating how this person can pass or give sickle cell anemia through giving birth or having intercourse. We will then be making a graph showing our data from our investigation using Starlogo how this disease is tracked and spread.
